Batter Up!

The 10 Best Pancake Joints in Town

Stack ‘em higher, please! It’s no secret that we love pancakes; the number of pancake eateries popping up recently is evidence enough. But not all pancakes are created equal…we’ve made it our mission to find the best pancakes in Singapore!

Slappy Cakes

Slappy Cakes
Great for the young (at-heart), this American-based diner lets you make-your-own (MYO) pancakes on built-in griddles at your table! With five batter choices – wholegrain, buttermilk, peanut butter, chocolate, and zucchini (it tastes way better than it sounds, we swear) – coupled with loads of different mix-ins, it’s not surprising that Slappy Cakes was dubbed America’s best by the Food Network.
Slappy Cakes, #01-20/21 The Grandstand, 200 Turf Club Road, Singapore 287994, p. 6465 1814. Open Mon-Fri 10am-9.30pm, Sat-Sun 8am-9.30pm.

Strictly Pancakes

Strictly Pancakes
No best pancake list would be complete without Strictly Pancakes, the pioneer of all-day pancake eateries in Singapore. Some of their unique offerings are the Chicken a-la King and Savoury Garlic Butter Prawns. Chocoholics will love the Druggie – chocolate pancakes with chocolate ice cream sprinkled with chocolate flakes and sliced strawberries topped off with chocolate sauce.
Strictly Pancakes, 44A Prinsep Street, Singapore 188674, p. 6333 4202. Open Mon 6pm-10pm, Tue-Thu 11.30am-10pm, Sat 10am-4pm & 6pm-12am, Sun 10am-4pm & 6pm-10pm.

Little Pancakes
Instead of the usual-sized griddlecakes, the pancakes at Little Pancakes are, well, little. These bite-sized, fluffy coins are a hit with kids and adults alike. Our savoury pick would be Ham and Cheesy (served with potato salad and greens), while we love Singaporeans Unite for its sweetness factor, because the accompanying dips of kaya, butter, and condensed milk tastes like home.
Little Pancakes, #01-04 Thomson Imperial Court, 200 Upper Thomson Road, Singapore 574424, p. 6258 8515. Open Mon-Fri 1pm-11pm, Sat 11am-11pm, Sun 11am-9pm. Closed on Tue.

Nook

Nook
The first pancake place to utilize the MYO concept, Nook is another great child-friendly restaurant where kids get to unleash their creativity on the griddle! Batter flavours like red velvet, pandan (our favourite!), and strawberry are enough to make any sweet-tooth drool. They have a la carte savoury items too, like cheeseburger soup.
Nook, 21 Lorong Kilat, #01-03, Singapore 598123, p. 6466 1811. Open Mon–Fri, 12pm-10pm, Sat-Sun 10am-10pm.

Epicurious
While the pancakes at Epicurious are not out-of-this world, topped with caramelized bananas and strawberries, they are decently good. Plus, they make an excellent (and value for money) companion to the baked eggs that you know that you are going to have.
Epicurious, #01-02 The Quayside, 60 Robertson Quay, Singapore 238252, p. 6734 7720. Open Tue-Fri 11.30am-2.30pm & 6pm-10pm, Sat & Sun 9am-10pm. Closed on Mon. Pancakes available only on Sat & Sun 9am-5pm.

Paddington House of Pancakes
Be prepared to eat your way through the world with pancakes alone (which is just as fun!) at PHOP. The selection is elephantine, and includes American flapjacks, Russian Blinis, Dutch Pannekoek and French Galettes. We also love the their dollar pancake sundaes like the Tiramisu, as well as the Strawberry New York Cheese Cake.
Paddington House of Pancakes, #02-35/36 City Square Mall, 180 Kitchener Road, Singapore 208539, p.  6612 9029. Open Mon-Sun 11am-10pm.

Privé Café
If you like your pancakes with a view (of the beautiful Keppel bay), Privé Café is for you! Their home-style pancakes are fluffy stacks of goodness served with fresh strawberries, bananas, whipped cream, maple syrup, and honeycomb (which we totally love!). But be quick about it because they’re available only during brunch hours.
Privé Café, 2 Keppel Bay Vista, Singapore City 098382, p. 6776 0777. Open daily 9am-12am. Pancakes available 9am-5pm.

Food For Thought
One of the best all-day brunches in Singapore, Food For Thought also happens to have some of the best pancakes in Singapore. Served in duos (just nice a portion we think, especially for the tots!), you can have your pancakes plain, with banana and walnuts (an all-time favourite, we’re told), and if you’re feeling decadent, have them with dark chocolate with stewed cherries.
Food For Thought, 1 Cluny Road, Tanglin Gate, #B1-00, Singapore 259569, p. 6338 4848. Open Mon-Sun 8am-9pm.

Riders Café
We’re a tad disappointed that they’ve removed pancakes from the weekend brunch, but the new pancakes on the weekday breakfast menu makes up for it. The lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberry compote and maple butter are available in limited portions every morning, so be an early bird!
Riders Café, Bukit Timah Saddle Club, 51 Fairways Drive, Singapore 286965, p. 6466 9819. Open Sun–Thu 8am-9pm, Fri-Sat 8am-10pm. Closed on Monday. Pancakes available only Tue-Fri 8am-11am.

Spruce
Perched at the top of Phoenix Park in Tanglin, Spruce is an extremely popular spot for the weekend brunch. Their banana hotcakes with honeycomb butter and blueberry syrup are definitely worth your try if you’re a pancake fan!
Spruce, 320 Tanglin Road,
Phoenix Park, Singapore
 247980, p. 6836 5528. Open Mon-Fri 10.30am-10.30pm, Sat-Sun 9am-10.30pm. Pancakes available only on weekends from 9am-3.45pm.
