This summer, Singapore’s market scene is better than ever – here’s where we’ll be hitting the stalls
Here at HoneyKids, we’ve been hankering for a great market scene in Singapore: and hallelujah, the shopping gods have smiled down upon us, because this summer pop-up shops, makers markets and bazaars are filling our diary faster than you can say Etsy (which, FYI, is beefing up its presence in Singapore – yippee!).
We want handmade; the carefully curated; local designs; that special find that you won’t see at every mall. We want to spend our days mooching around the markets, hunting for treasures. These are the ones we’ll be hitting this summer to find fabulous stuff for the family – and, let’s face it, ourselves.
MAKERS BAZAAR BY KNITTD
Here’s a new word to add to your daily vocab: Indiepreneur. New collective, Knittd, is champion of the independent artist/maker/curator/entrepreneur, and is building a community of like-minded souls – its all-inclusive, cosy manifesto is giving us a serious case of the warm and fuzzies. Their inaugural mini market looks a treat, with colourful patchwork owls, knitted plushies and terrariums thrown into the mix. We won’t lie: we’re pretty excited about the Neh Neh popsicles, made by the folks behind Middle-Eastern fave Artichoke cafe.
When: Saturday 23 May, 1-7pm
Where: 10 Square @Orchard Central, 238896

Let’s hear it for all the local designers, artists and craftspeople – this monthly market at the Red Dot Design Museum is the biggest and best showcase of Singaporean talent. Bringing together unique homewares, jewellery, handmade goods, fashion, art, live portrait sessions, music and a makeshift bar, this creative free-for-all meets late-night shopping affair is our idea of a great night out.

ALL ABOUT KIDS POP-UP FAIR
We gave you the low-down on the very first All About Kids pop-up back in March – and this one is set to be even bigger and better. This where you’ll find all the best lifestyle labels, for little ones and grown-ups: think bright enamelware and baskets by Bohemian, or cool kids swimwear by Frolik. Look out for HoneyKids fave Hong Henwood, the super stylist behind the Affordable Style Files – she’ll be introducing Australian children’s clothing label Minizimi (pictured below), which we love for its eye-popping prints. Check out her cool wall decals for kids and a totally rad present for dad: graphic skateboard decks designed for wall mounting. Pssst: parking is free for those intending to load up!
When: Friday, 5 June, 9am-4.30pm
Where: Tanderra, Block 73 Loewen Road, #01-21, 248843
PUBLIC GARDEN
Public Garden, which has been a local fave for its markets and creative workshops, is set to host its first consumer trade show. Sticking to its principle of under-the-radar and independent, you can expect to find everything from bold beaded necklaces to limited-edition fashion and quirky handmade designs. We’ll definitely be checking this one out – elbows at the ready, folks.
